I am passionate about learning and want students to experience a very positive and engaging learning environment through interactive classroom activities such as discussions and group activities. HR is not a science as it is all about people and as such, makes it an incredibly exciting and at the same time quite challenging subject to teach in terms of how people are managed in the best interests of the organisation. My career to date is outlined below which indicates the professional work I have undertaken although I have also provided consultancy services on an infrequent basis, with the focus on ER.

  • FCIPD, I am the branch treasurer for the South London branch
  • MCMI

Teach in the area of HR and related topics such as International HR, Performance, Reward, Diversity, Learning and Development. Also teach International Business, Strategic Management, all at post graduate level. Teach research methodology workshops and critical thinking workshops as further support and learning for post graduate students.

I have over 25 years’ industry experience working in the area of Human Resources with a particular interest and expertise in employee relations completing her MA in Employment Relations and Law from Leicester in 2006. My previous role was as Director of HR Faculty at a London Business School with overall responsibility for the HR postgraduate programmes  as well as teaching on legal services MBA programme.

My HR career has included working internationally in Miami, Trinidad, Syria and Switzerland and I have extensive experience in Employee Relations, Recruitment and Selection, re- structuring, down- sizing and Management Development. My experience also extends to involvement in managing organisations and employees through transition and change as well as Talent Management, Succession Planning and taking lead responsibility for Equality and Diversity. Prior to entering the education sector, I gained extensive operational HR experience in a variety of different organisations in the private sector.

Prior to this, I worked in a variety of different establishments in the hospitality industry, hotels, restaurants and bars and it was in this sector that I ‘fell into’ HR by being asked to carry out some interviews and induction training.
