We are very pleased to announce that since 1st April 2022, the BSc Health and Social Care programme of London campus is sponsoring the membership fee for 50 annual Student Memberships with the Institute of Health and Social Care Management (IHSCM).

Our Level 5 and Level 6 students who register with the Student Membership of IHSCM can receive access to a variety of benefits offered by this organisation, such as:

…and many more.

On Tuesday 12th April 2022, the CEO of the IHSCM, Jon Wilks, attended virtually one of our classes with BSc HSC students to talk to our students about the benefits of joining IHSCM as Student Members through with the membership sponsored by our University.

As the CEO of IHSCM, Jon Wilks, stated during this talk to students, members of the IHSCM have also access to the bi-monthly IHSCM HUB Magazine, to which our students could potentially contribute with an article they can write and share with the IHSCM for publication.

In addition, our students who become members of the IHSCM, are also becoming a potential Social Care innovator. Students can work with other members and industry leaders to help create solutions and campaigns related to health and social care initiatives of their interest.

The IHSCM has also Special Interest Groups which highlight particular themes and functions within Health & Social Care and meet to network and plan events and reports. Students can choose to join any of these groups depending on their professional interests. The themes of these groups include: Greener Care, Workforce Wellbeing, Digital Health, Integrated Health, Mental Health, Social Care Innovators, Frail Older Care and Dementia, Children and Young People, Equality Diversity and Inclusion, Practice Management, and others.

In communication with Emma Caton, Membership Manager of IHSCM, we keep our students informed about current events through their membership with IHSCM, such as quarterly newsletter information with events, courses, Special Interest Group meetings, etc.

For more information about the IHSCM and the benefits for their members, please visit their official website at Institute of Health & Social Care Management

Students who become members can include in their CVs that they are a student member of this organisation and share the experience that they gain through this organisation with prospective employers too.

We hope that our students will use this opportunity to grow their professional network and exchange their views and ideas with other professionals in the field of health and social care, while being informed and updated on the matters of their interest in this field.

Note: This initiative was part of the UWTSD's Students' Experience Enhancement Fund (SEEF).
